Tying program in to women's health -- good idea!
Renaming the Distaff the 'Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic' -- bad idea!
I suggest they could offset the second point by making a large donation to the Archives & Special Collections on Women in Medicine so that we can actually get our new building. Pretty please? It's that or free plane tickets, hotel and Breeders' Cup tickets for the whole TBA! |

I have to say I agree with you. I like that they are giving Friday a theme. I think changing the name to "ladies classic" was a poor idea.
John from "the race is not always to the swift" seems to feel it smells of racism. I don't feel that way, especially if I can get in for free ;)
Seriously, I could get into a "ladies day" and get dressed up for it, etc. I suppose the Oaks is the Derby weekend version of "ladies day".
I give them credit, the marketing people are trying. This past year, Friday of the breeders cup was like the ugly red headed step child in the room.
