Turf War, with Calvin Borel aboard, did nothing in the Southwest (which is finally a G3), while the much-hyped Denis of Cork (left, previously ridden by Mr. Borel) romped to victory. In only his third career start, the horse whose name sounds a bit like an Irish theme pub managed to face a bit of adversity and easily come on to win. I'm still not jumping on his bandwagon quite yet, but at least he answered a few questions (and got me up to second in the TBA Road to the Roses league, although I still trail Green But Game).
Pyro and Z Fortune worked this week despite a loose horse, but the other 'Z' horse, Z Humor, didn't have much to show in the Sam F. Davis, which went to one of the 'other' Nick Zito horses (i.e. those who are not War Pass) - Fierce Wind.
We should start to see things pick up next weekend with the Fountain of Youth; Monba, Elysium Fields, Court Vision and Cool Coal Man are expected in addition to my current object of interest, Anak Nakal (yet another Zito horse) -- on paper, it looks like the toughest Derby prep so far this season. Check back later in the week for more on how that one is developing. The NTRA has a few more details on Winning Colors as well -- and let's not forget that NTRA president Alexander Waldrop will soon be testifying before Congress about steroids -- they're not just for baseball anymore! |

Yes, but you're now ahead in our little Saratoga Special contest...
I'll definitely be adding Denis of Cork to my RTTR stable in the upcoming supplemental draft!
I'm glad I added him. I was very wary of the hype over two wins, but so far, so good!
