The Preakness Field

We've all been to PimlicoI hope to be checking in during today's Black Eyed Susan and will be watching the Preakness undercard tomorrow; in the meantime, here is the Official Superfecta Preakness Field Evaluation:

1) Macho Again - He may prefer a shorter race; he seems to love about 7 furlongs.

2) Tres Borrachos - Trained by Beau Greely who also trained the under-rated Borrego, he might also prove to be a later developer. I could see him hitting the board, though, and I always like a 'beer-money' horse.

3) Icabad Crane - He's got good local cred and I like his connections - I'd absolutely be backing him in just about any other local race; not sure about this one.

4) Yankee Bravo - I can't say I'm terribly inspired, but he has had an interesting journey.

5) Behindatthebar - Scratched.

6) Racecar Rhapsody - His record is uninspiring.

7) Big Brown - Unless something odd happens (and it certainly could, although hopefully in a more Fu Peg way than in a Barbaro one), he should easily beat this field.

8) Kentucky Bear - Another horse with only a few starts and one win; possible for exotics.

9) Stevil - Who knew this year's Preakness was for non-winners of two? Here's another one.

10) Riley Tucker - He seems to hit the board often, if not win.

11) Giant Moon - I'm not sure how fast he really is, but his New York record is certainly admirable.

12) Gayego - While I like him a lot, I don't see him doing well here on the quick turnaround after a long flight.

13) Hey Byrn - He seems to improve with better company and I think he could be very interesting to watch later in the year and next year.

Prediction: Big Brown, Hey Byrn, Giant Moon, Tres Borrachos
